Are there low-shedding, or non-shedding dogs? Yes, especially the new "designer breeds" like the Labradoodle or Cockapoo,

I live in a dog-friendly town, Alexandria Virginia. And it's a pretty affluent area (near Washington DC) - so it's no surprise that designer-dogs are everywhere.

Why?

Non-shedding, is the reason. Most designer dogs have been specially bred to combine the best attributes of low or non-shedding, with an even-disposition and temperment.

A big dog, seen frequently, is the "golden doodle". A mixture of a standard poodle (intelligent, easily trained) with a yellow labrador (loyal, friendly) - the golden doodle is likely to be on the large side, with yellow kinky hair.

Even the AKC has gotten into designer dogs - offering special consideration for dogs of "mixed breeds"...
