Dog Eats Plastic Bag ! Call The Vet!

Dog Eats Plastic Bag - What do you do? Call the Vet! Here's what happened...

My Corgi, Bernice, can't help herself when food is around.

She sneaked a ziplock bag containing pieces of cheddar cheese out of someone's pocket, and ran around the yard consuming the thing like she was a boa constrictor snake...chomp chomp chomp.

While two adults wrestled, vainly, to remove the bag, it was down the dog's throat before anything could be done.

The Vet said, "Bring her in immediately"...

X Rays showed the location of the plastic bag, and two shots later, the poor dog threw the offender up. One zip lock bag...

Untreated, it is possible that the mischievous dog would have excreted the bag. But it is also possible it would have caused a blockage.

And blockages can be serious. Life threatening, if the blockage causes an infection.

So do the right thing --- if you see or fear that your dog has eaten ANYTHING harmful, call the Vet.

Bernice, the Corgi was lucky that she was able to throw the plastic bag up...other dogs are not so lucky, and may require surgery.

Any after-effects?

After eating a plastic bag, and the ordeal at the Vet's office...my Corgi was feeling fine within a few hours.

The Vet's shots, by the way, were one to make her throw up, and one to soothe her stomach...poor, poor Bernice. And we were so lucky that it wasn't any worse...
